Managing Director

Mr. Kazi Md. Wahidul Islam, a highly accomplished professional, was appointed as the Managing Director of Rupali Bank PLC on December 24, 2024. Prior to this promotion, he served as the Deputy Managing Director (DMD) at Sonali Bank PLC.

Mr. Wahidul holds a Master’s degree in Public Affairs (International Economic Relations) from the University of Dhaka securing First Class. He also completed his B.Sc. in Leather Engineering and Technology from the University of Dhaka, securing First Class with a 3rd merit position. Additionally, he is a Diplomaed Associate of the Institute of Bankers Bangladesh (DAIBB) and has obtained an MBA with a major in Finance. He also earned a CETS qualification from the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management.

With an illustrious career in the banking sector, Mr. Wahidul began as a Probationary Officer (Senior Officer) at Rupali Bank in 1998. Through his unwavering dedication, visionary outlook, amiable disposition and exceptional leadership qualities, he steadily climbed the management ladder to his current role as Managing Director of Rupali Bank PLC.

Throughout his extensive 26-year banking career, Mr. Wahidul has excelled in various executive roles, including Head of Branch, Zonal Head, Divisional Head, and Head of Foreign Trade Finance and International, Treasury, and Audit & Inspection Division at the bank’s head office. He has also served as the Chairman of the Disciplinary Cases Committee and chaired several other committees. He was the Head of ICC and Head of HRD at Sonali Bank PLC. Additionally, Mr. Wahidul holds chairmanship positions at Rupali Investment Limited and Rupali Bank Securities Limited (RBSL).

Mr. Wahid’s expertise in banking spans various areas, including HRM, General Banking, Industrial Credit, Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Finance, Micro Credit, Business Development, Human Resources (HR) Planning & Forecasting, Marketing, Legal, Public Relations, Estate, Common Services, Procurement, Recovery, and Accounts Division. Additionally, he has been extensively involved in monitoring and supervising Dhaka Division, Chattogram Division, Bangabandhu Avenue Corporate Branch, and recovery efforts from the Hallmark Group at Sonali Bank PLC.

Throughout his career, he has earned accolades and recognition for his exceptional performance in every role and location. Mr. Wahidul has actively participated multiple times in numerous training programs and seminars, both domestically and internationally, particularly on Treasury and Foreign Trade Finance.

He is the son of Kazi Mofizul Islam and Kazi Mahfuza Akter. Born on November 3, 1968, into a respected Muslim family in Rupganj, Narayanganj. He is happily married to Umma Salma Sarker and blessed with one daughter. Alongside his professional endeavors, he is actively involved in philanthropic, sports, and cultural activities.
